Abstract
A two-stage coding system using both bandwidth reduction and source coding methods is described. Motion adaptive filtering, spatiotemporal subsampling and intrafield transform coding is used. In order to avoid the enhancement of artifacts by the motion adaptive interpolation the parameters of the DCT, i.e. block sizes and different block-formations of samples are adapted.
