Acceptance of multimedia information systems using moving pictures? Experimental investigations on the preference for the moving picture in obtaining information
Abstract
A risk attaches to the use of moving images in today's information systems: it is not clear whether there is a need which justifies the cost. A need could arise only if information is obtained thereby significantly more easily, or indeed can be obtained only in that way, as opposed to presentations without moving images. An investigation is in progress to determine instances in which moving images are of advantage in obtaining information. Combinations of media with and without moving pictures (text, graphics, still pictures, sound) are compared in learning experiments.
