In line with the high-technology cluster, "Energy-efficient Product and Process Innovation in Production Technologies" (eniPROD), the aim of the "Energy use analysis and optimisation of joining and assembly processes" sub-project is to evaluate joining and assembly processes in technically relevant process chains for the production of power train components. This is intended for the purpose of overall technological optimisation in the conflicting fields of energy input/requirement, appreciation of value and enhanced functionality. Initially, this will be based on systematic investigations to establish the actual situation, i.e. an energy analysis of one such production process, for which the latest evaluation methods are described in this paper. In addition, the first results identified with the aid of these methods are also shown here.
Furthermore, the aim of this sub-project throughout the course of the project will be to develop new technological approaches via the synthesis of different technologies. These will make it possible either to create comparable added value on the product with lower energy conversion, or, conversely, to increase the added value without the use of additional energy.
