Titel
Unrepeated 40-Gbit/s RZ single-channel transmission over 150 km of standard fiber at 1.55 mu m
Abstract
We report a 40-Gbit/s OTDM (optical time-division multiplexing) transmission through an extended span of 150-km standard single-mode fiber (SMF) with a receiver sensitivity of -30.5 dBm (<1 dB penalty) using passive dispersion compensation. The dispersion slope was reduced from 0.08 ps/nm2/km for SMF to 0.03 ps/nm2/km for SMF+DCF (dispersion- compensating fiber). We investigate the influence of the signal power, the compensation scheme, and the word length.
