Titel
Measurement and modeling of timing jitter in optoelectronic repeaters and frequency converters
Abstract
An optoelectronic transponder can be used as an optoelectronic 2R-repeater including wavelength-division-multiplexed frequency converting facilities. Measurements and black-box modeling of the transponder are performed in order to describe the limitation of transponder concatenation caused by accumulated timing jitter. It is shown that jitter accumulation does not obey a simple intuitive model. We list the black box model and the parameters with which we can simulate the experimentally observed jitter accumulation and the occurrence of an error floor in concatenated transponders.
