Measuring ionizing radiation by means of a fiber Bragg grating

The possibility of using fiber Bragg gratings in high dose environments is examined. To do this, fiber Bragg gratings were manufactured and irradiated with variation of the following parameters: fiber type, hydrogen content, intensity of writing laser, and temperature during the stabilization of the gratings. Furthermore a test at the FLASH facility at the DESY was done.
