Titel
Latent heat storage media for cooling applications
Abstract
This paper deals with four types of latent heat storage media for cooling applications: ice slurries, macroencapsulated paraffins, microencapsulated paraffin-in-water suspensions and paraffin-in-water emulsions. They have a high energy density and a small temperature swing by using the phase transition solid-liquid of ice/paraffins. Fraunhofer UMSICHT has developed the media and investigated their properties. Our study shows that they are attractive alternatives to conventional sensible storage media like water and brines.
