Abstract
(A1) Es wird eine dreidimensionale Mikrobatterie offenbart, bei der in einem Substrat (1) eine Vertiefung (2) vorgesehen ist, in der zwei in der Substratebene nebeneinanderliegende Kammern ausgebildet sind. In den Kammern ist jeweils die mit einem Elektrolyten (6) getraenkte Aktivmasse (4, 5) von negativer und positiver Elektrode aufgenommen. Zwischen den beiden Kammern befindet sich eine poroese, mit dem Elektrolyten durchtraenkte und einen Durchgang von aktiver Elektrodenmasse verhindernde Trennwand (3). Die freien Oberflaechen der Aktivmasse beider Elektroden und der Trennwand liegen in einer Ebene mit einer Oberflaeche des Substrats. Die Elektroden und die Trennwand sind durch eine ueber den Rand der Vertiefung hinausragende Abdeckschicht (10) hermetisch versiegelt.

Anode and cathode materials (4, 5) of negative and positive electrodes and a liquid electrolyte (6) are accommodated in the chambers, respectively. A porous partition wall (3) is arranged between the chambers. The wall saturates with the electrolyte and inhibits a passage of the materials. Free surfaces of the materials of both electrodes and the wall lies in a plane with a surface of the substrate, and the electrodes and the wall are hermetically sealed by a plain cover (10) protruding over an edge of the recess. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for producing a three-dimensional micro-battery. USE - Three-dimensional micro-battery. Uses include but are not limited to an electrical power supply of a micro-system i.e. energy-self-sufficient micro-system, temporary storage for a miniaturized radio sensor, temporary storage for an energy harvesting device, active RFID tag, medical implant, wearable computing, backup-battery in the micro-system, smart card(RTM: digitally encoded card), memory chip, system in package, system on chip, miniaturized data logger and intelligent ammunition. ADVANTAGE - The porous partition wall arranged between the chambers saturates with the electrolyte and inhibits the passage of the materials, the free surfaces of the materials of both electrodes and the wall lies in the plane with the surface of the substrate, and the electrodes and the wall are hermetically sealed by the plain cover protruding over the edge of the recess, such that the micro-battery exhibits high mechanical integrity and energy density, and can be adapted to or integrated in different applications in dimensions. The micro-battery can be economically produced.
