Abstract
The tools of stylists and design engineers are to provide either the intuitive work or the rational-deterministic design work. Above all in the early stages of an optimized product development, the stylistics and the design engineers must coordinate their results in a shared virtual model. This is a report on the project 'DeCign'. The aim was to develop new tools for the virtual workstation of conceptual design and styling. Two remarkable results are to be mentioned: the conversion of a paper sheet scribbles into analogous fuzzy virtual sketches and the virtual reconstruction of design models on the basis of photographs.
