In the early years of Rapid Prototyping, technologies were only capable of handling special tailored materials like uv-curing resins, special types of plastic, special types of paper. The basic idea of this research is to use the manufacturing capabilities of a generative manufacturing system for building complex structures/implants made of resorbable materials. A technology called Multiphase Jet Solidification (MJS) has the necessary technological potential to build such 3D-structures/implants. Thus 3D hollow structures are fabricated layer by layer up to final extension. This paper discusses a new way of generating 3D hollow structures in resorbable materials using Multiphase Jet Solidification technology. To create such 3D-structures/implants it is necessary to design special structures. These structures will support ingrowth of human tissue in the implants. Therefore, new construction and building strategies have been considered. Improvements of the MJS process and material testing were accomplished. First basic results of this research will be presented in the paper.
