Abstract
A review on features and limits of powder nanotechnol. in advanced material manufg. with special regard to .gamma.-Al2O3 nanopowder. Real nanopowders with particle sizes < 100 nm do not be applicable for compact structural part prodn. due to their original technol. behavior and cost expenditure. Improvements of their mech. properties will be able in special cases by grain size redn. into the region < 0.5 .mu.m. The technol. for defect-free, large, and dense part sintering is hardly controlled even if using 150-300 nm particle size powders.
