Titel
Investigation of the kinetic of proton translocation across the thylakoid membrane
Abstract
When isolated chloroplasts from spinach are illuminated, protons are pumped across the thylakoid membrane into the inner phase of the thylakoid vesicles. This inward proton translocation is accompanied by the translocation of other ions. The light-induced ion redistribution is analyzed and a model for ion transport phenomena is deduced. The influence of surface-charge changes are taken into account. The effect of the membrane-permeability-inducing agents valinomycin (K+ specific) and carbonylcyanid-m-chlorophenylhydrazone (H+ specific) on the kinetics of proton translocation is studied and analyzed.
