Abstract
Diode lasers combine several advantages, like high efficiency and compact design for their use in laser surface treatment for different industrial applications. Due to the available power density up to 10 (exp 3) W/cm2 and the characteristic intensity distribution diode laser radiation is qualified for surface technologies like transformation hardening, cladding and remelting. In the scope of this paper transformation hardening of pressing tools and saws, cladding of valves and remelting of cams are demonstrated.
